People may need tooth extraction surgery for a variety of reasons. If you have excessive tooth decay that cannot be saved with a simple cavity filling, tooth extraction may be the most effective procedure to keep your mouth healthy. You may also require this procedure if your mouth is crowded and your teeth do not have room to grow correctly. This is especially common if a person requires braces to straighten their teeth.
While all surgeries can be a little scary, Dr. Martinez puts his patients at ease with his calming demeanor and personable approach. When you come in for your initial consultation, you will deal with Dr. Martinez directly. He will complete a thorough exam and review your x-rays to see exactly what needs to be done. He will then discuss the process, benefits, and risks of the treatment with you and make sure that you understand what to expect. We will also discuss the possibility of deep sedation (IV sedation) for your specific case based on your level of anxiety about the procedure. After that, you decide how to move forward. We will not schedule a date unless and until you feel completely comfortable with the procedure.
Before setting a date, we will review your insurance together, provide you with an estimate, discuss financial arrangements, and collect a deposit. Finally, we’ll set a date for your surgery.
Prior to surgery, please look over our instructions for the day before and the day of the procedure. Tooth extraction is a routine outpatient procedure. We will use both local and possibly intravenous anesthesia (IV) during this procedure. You will be asleep so that you don’t feel a thing.
One week after your procedure, Dr. Martinez will see you again personally to examine the surgical area and make sure you are recovering as expected.
