Before your surgery, it’s important to follow the below instructions to ensure the procedure goes as smoothly possible:
1) Get a good night's rest.
2) A driver/escort is required to present and stay in office during any IV (deep) sedation procedure.
3) A driver is not required but is recommended for any person undergoing procedures with local anesthesia.
4) Wear comfortable, loose clothing. In the winter, dress in layers but avoid tight long sleeve tops as they can interfere with accurate blood pressure readings during your procedure.
5) Remove fingernail polish on one finger on each hand. Polish can interfere with the oxygen saturation readings during surgery.
6) Do not eat or drink anything for 6 hours before surgery involving IV (deep) sedation. No exceptions. If you must take medication in the morning per your doctor, please take with a small sip of water.
7) A light meal is ok for individuals undergoing procedures with nitrous oxide (laughing gas). Stick with water or tea instead of coffee.
8) If you have long hair, please bring a headband or clip or braid your hair, so it fits comfortably into the surgery cap.
9) Please do not wear contact lenses if at all possible unless discussed beforehand with Dr. Martinez.
10) Please avoid cosmetics, or at least use minimal cosmetics the day of the procedure.
11) Feel free to bring your favorite pillow or blanket.
12) We ask that you arrive 30 minutes before your scheduled procedure for registration and preoperative exam.
13) On the day of your procedure, please let us know what we can do to make your day as comfortable as possible!
14) Please silence your phones when in the office. In order to protect the privacy and respect the dignity of all clients, taking photos and video are prohibited in all treatment areas.
